China’s upgraded Long March 2F carrier rocket system Shenzhou-9 astronauts 17 june 2012
The modified model of the Long March-2F is designed with a higher degree of reliability and equipped with more advanced positioning software to ensure a more precise entry into the orbit.
A substantial difference on this rocket with previous one is the adoption of the “fault monitoring and dianosis system” and the “escaping system”.
Chief disigner of Longmarch-2F carrier rocket Zhang Xuhui says, “With the two extra systems, the Long-March-2F is designed for manned projects. Compared to previous models, it is much more reliable and safe. ”
The fault monitoring and diagnosis system keeps an eye out for trouble before the spacecraft enters orbit. If any system failures are detected, it signals the astronauts to suspend the mission and escape from the vessel.
And as they evacuate, the system controls the timing sequence of the escape capsule and other essential operations.
