I spent about 3 hours this morning on writing my new manuscript for The Mansion On The Hill, it takes place before Part One, and I am writing the next chapter of the story.
I am writing about how Nuna Totenmyer a Ojibwa Native, convinces her father to let her go live with her Aunt Helen Totenmyer in London England. She plans to attend the Carrington Finishing School For Women there and then seek a wealthy trade and commerce man for a husband.
Nuna is a refined woman, who against her Mother Heta’s wishes, has been reading books and teaching her self the art of being a knowledgeable business woman. She is planning to leave Place Royale, Canada by the time she is 15 years old and permanently live in London, England in the early 1900’s.
Her mother is angry because the Totenmyers arranged a marriage agreement with the Littlewolfs concerning Nuna and Andy. Lenno Totenmyer really wants to two tribes to join forces with the Iroquois up near Hudson Bay and this was the plan. Heta is trying to force Nuna to marry Andy Littlewolf, but Lenno defends his daughter’s lack of love for the boy. The youngest son Andy Littlewolf has been in love with Nuna since they were children. She cannot stand the Littlewolfs and describes them as barbaric.
Aunt Helen a refined, sociable, wealthy and popular woman in England’s society, has much to offer Nuna. Tate Totenmyer, her husband and Lenno Totenmyer’s brother, died at a young age but left his widow a very rich woman. She has not been able to bear any children and welcomes the chance to be a mother.
Nuna decides that as soon as she reaches England she will change her name to Patricia. She will have trouble trying to fit in with high society for at the time Native people were not part of the inner circle.
Nuna is ashamed to be a Native and must learn there are consequences to everything we do in life. She turns her back on her family. Nuna’s Mother Heta, and Sister Sasha, are devastated by the news. Nuna’s Mother Heta disowns her for not marrying Andy Littlewolf and tells her that she is no longer welcomed in their home.
Heta Totenmyer blames her sister-in-law Helen for this unhappiness. Heta has been jealous of Lenno’s admiration for Helen all these years and tells him never to return for allowing their daughter to disgrace the Totenmyers in this way.
Once they reach England, Nuna see’s that her Father Lenno is truly in love with her Aunt Helen and urges her Father to divorce his wife Heta, due to an unhappy marriage and to reunite with his one true love…
